The Red Light District

After checking out the world famous Red Light District i couldn't stop thinking about it, all the girls, the men, why the girls were there, how they ended up there. I had so many questions and i felt sorry for them as the men leered over them, winding them up and shouting abuse.

So we checked out the Red Light Secrets Museum of Prostitution.
                                                                  It was eye opening!

Its basically a mock up of what an average brothel on the strip looks like.

Prostitutes in the District work in small old rooms decorated shabby. They don't own the rooms they rent them and the approx price is 150 euro for half a day. Before she makes any money for herself she has to earn the rent money first.

They have windows with seats and red lights so you can really experience what it feels like to be starred at.

One of the Woman they talk about in the Museum used to work in one of the rooms above she was trafficked which is a very common phenomenon.
There's a great video going around on the internet at the moment about it  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-a8dAHDQoo

Another woman they talk about in the Museum got approached by a woman asking if she was interested in working in the district, they became good friends and started working together. She says shes quite happy doing what shes doing and its helping her to pay off her study debts. So i guess its not all bad.
I would love to know what you guys think of The District so drop us a comment.

Amsterdam

This Weekend we went to Amsterdam for a long Weekend.
I'd never been before so was extremely excited to see what all the fuss was about.
We got there late Thursday night so decided to grab some food have a quick wonder and go to bed so we were fresh for the next day.

In true tourist style we jumped on the tram early and headed for central station then walked from there into the center. We started the day by grabbing breakfast then booking one of the famous canal boat trips, but honestly it wasn't that great. We had more fun walking around with a map in hand finding things for ourselves.

So the next stop was the sex museum.

Very funny and interesting time we had.. who knew people were so dirty back in the day?!
We moved on to all the other touristy stops

Then wondered along the Canals

We ate some amazing food while there. I highly recommend CAU in Dam Sqaure,
                                                    great steak and amazing wine!

Sunday was our last full Day and the sun was shinning. So we walked for hours exploring even more.

Flower Market

Amsterdam bicycle parking garage

Central Station

We stopped for a tea and a quick snack, after studying the menu i decided on a crépe.

                                                              The 'all red crépe'
Fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce and starwberry ice-cream.

After a little more walking around the streets we headed back to the hotel for a little siesta then went for dinner to an amazing Sushi place just by the flower market along the canal.

Great way to end a fab city break. Looking forward to the next one!
